YOP – year 8 – week 42

The Crocus sock from the Toe Up Socks for Everybody book by Wendy D Johnson have seen steady progress on them. Last week I was on the gusset of the first sock and it was off the needles by Monday evening. Tuesday saw the second sock cast straight on and in truth it should be off the needles yesterday but my get up and go got up and went yesterday and while I was knitting on it, I was more just sitting catching up on some podcasts, sewing podcasts mainly. But the socks, I have one pattern repeat to complete the leg then just some ribbing, so they will likely be off the needles later today.

I’m also hoping to knit the swatch knitted for my next garment, the Magnolia by Camilla Vad, because I didn’t get that done this week either. Nor did I actually get around to blocking the jumper that came off the needles last week. I didn’t podcast either and there are a number of other things to do that I just didn’t do because I had no enthusiasm to do them.

Can you see what happened here this week. I worked on things that were at hand, I watched podcasts but mainly I ran and I read with my free time neither of which fall under YOP activities.

I do have the material out on my table for another cuff top and I’m off now presently to cut that out. I have two other materials, a blue linen and a denim , that I want to wash and perhaps over the Easter break I’ll make some progress on those. Let’s see if my get up and go has come back???

So the list is looking like this;

  1. Every now and then it’s good to have a re-set week and just do a bit of this, that and the other of other things. I count podcasts as research and educational as well as entertaining. I’m sure your get up and go well be back. In the meantime you’ve some lovely new socks.

  2. Your socks are coming along quite nicely. There are times when we all loose our get up and go. Hang in there. I am sure it will return soon. Maybe we should just call it spring fever. That sounds so nice LOL.

    1. If only spring fever meant I was doing a deep spring clean then perhaps I could get behind it a bit more Marsha, it’s a spring fever that equals rest and not a lot of activity but it’s obviously what the mind and body are after so I shall try to just embrace it and go with it for as long as it lasts.

    1. I thought I had mentioned it, perhaps and obviously I didn’t. I think I need to generally catch up on the blog here with whats happening. As for reading mojo Mary-Anne, I think it never really goes, not when you have a love of it, it is a balancing act to fit it in amongst other activities and then finding books that capture and draw us in are key. I hope yours returns soon and look out for that update.

  3. Love the socks…especially the yarn and I think i have ‘faved’ every sweater you’ve made and your next one is no exception! I think a week of ‘taking it easy’ is good for all of us. I have been focusing on the outdoors when it’s nice and I need to adjust to all the new chores added to the regular ones now that Spring is here. I still think you are amazing with your family responsibilities and all your beautiful makes. I find the podcasts keep me inspired. I always get melancholy the week leading up to Easter reliving in my mind all that Christ went through for us. I only mention this as I know you are a Christian but ordinarily I don’t talk religion or politics. Anyway, it was just a thought as to why you may be feeling this way. Relax and enjoy your handwork whatever it is.

    1. Spring does bring all the added extra chores doesn’t it Sam and it takes a some time to adjust to them. It’s nice though to get out into the garden and fresh air.
