YOP – year 8 – week 39

This week has been a really productive week. I’ve worn the Aster cardigan and I love the addition of those added seams that I added. I think going forward I’ll be adding seams to seamless garments. I have spoken more about it HERE on the next episode of my podcast if you want to hear more about it and see it, here is a pic though as well.

Aster

I made two versions of the Cuff Top this week. I made the first one out of some left over grey linen that I made the Hollyburn skirt from and I made the second from the Atelier Brunette material you saw in last weeks picture. I love these tops and the fit of them and they were so quick and easy to make. Again I speak about it more on the podcast and model one off but here are some pics also.

The Laurel socks are also now finished. I loved how these turned out and they have gone into my box so I can have a completed box of socks by the end of the calendar year.

Laurel Socks

With the socks complete and the yarn for the Gingerbread sweater on it’s way I began a pair of socks for Elizabeth. She wanted a pair of shortie socks like what I made for Evelyn and she wanted them in that neon pink that I used to knit a pair for Caoimhe in so I was more than happy to use up the leftovers from that yarn. The first sock is complete and the second just cast on so it should be done today or tomorrow.

Elizabeth's Socks

The yarn has arrived for the Gingerbread but as I’d started Elizabeth’s socks I decided to carry on with those first. I’m may swatch for the sweater this week or cast on another pair of socks, at the moment I’m not sure what I want to do. I also have material for one more Cuff Top, the other material in last weeks post, hopefully I’ll get to making that too.

So the list now looks like this;

YOP- year 8 – week 38

Beannachtaí na Féile Pádraig ort (translates as the blessings of St Patrick on you) or Happy St Patrick’s Day from the Emerald Isle.

I had begun this post yesterday but I ended up going out early for the day to enjoy the celebrations, so the wishes are a day late but meant all the same.

I can report that the Aster has been blocked. I have no photos or thoughts on it so far as I’d like to wear it and see what if any difference adding in the seams has made to it.

This week I’ve worked on my Laurel Socks and am nearly at the point of casting these off. This is the start of the ribbing on the second sock. Later today they will be off the needles.

Laurel Socks

Having thought about what project I wanted to start next, along with looking through the remaining garments on my YOP list, I have settled on the Gingerbread jumper by Libby Jonson. The weather will be getting warmer so now seems like the last chance to knit a DK weight sweater. I didn’t have any DK weight sweater quantities of yarn so I’ve ordered some and it should be here this week, so I shall begin to swatch for that when it arrives. In the meantime I shall cast on a pair of socks for Elizabeth who wants a pair in that rather bright neon pink yarn I knit some socks in before Christmas. It’s a good way to use up those leftovers!

I have cut out the pattern and intend to get started with cutting out the pieces for the Cuff Top by the Assembly Line. This seems like a simple straight forward top and something I could use in my wardrobe. I’m going to make the first version in some of the charcoal linen that is left over from my Hollyburn skirt and then I purchased both of these fabrics for two other versions. I have already washed both of these so once the grey version is complete I can carry on with both of these versions.

And that is the last of the making for this week, if you don’t count the writing I was working on. So the list looks something similar to last week;
